A centenary celebration of the life of Charles Williams.
Although the name may not be familiar, Williams's music almost certainly is. Christopher Timothy tells the story of this remarkable musician, who began his career as a violinist playing under such illustrious people as Edward Elgar and Thomas Beecham Williams went on to become a writer of film scores and a leading figure in the world of light music, and many of his works were subsequently used as signature tunes for radio and television.
The music is taken from
Charles Williams 's own recordings, mostly with the Queen's Hall Light Orchestra.
