In the second of six programmes on the American pianist Art Tatum , Alun Morgan concentrates on the late 1930s. By then, Tatum's fame had spread and in 1938 he visited England - the only time he ever worked outside America. His records were mainly solo piano, although he did work with a group from Les Hite's orchestra - the Swingsters.
