3: Offenbach. A tale about two
Parisian beggars who pretend to be blind was the first of Offenbach's 90 or so operas to be a real success.
To follow were triumphs like Orpheus in the Underworld, La Belle Helene and La Vie Parisienne, which have all come to symbolise the Parisian good life in its heyday.
