Goetz, whose Symphony in F has lately been revived with great success, wrote two operas, The Taming of the Shrew and Francesca da Rimini. The latter was produced at Mannheim in 1877 about ten months after Goetz died at the age of thirty-six. Actually the composer had only completed two of the acts ; the third remained in sketch.
