Kathleen Ferrier remains one of the century's best-loved voices, remembered for her performances of songs such as Blow the Wind Southerly and Ye Banks and Braes.
Born in Lancashire in 1912, she travelled up and down the country singing in concerts and operas until her death at the tragically early age of 41. With the help of some of Ferrier's favourite recordings, and the memories of those who worked with her and knew her, John Steane sets out to recapture the essence of a great British singer.
