Talk by Athene Seyler
Miss Seyler has played many leading parts in the course of her long stage career, but she thinks there is much to be said for playing the smaller ones. ' So often,' she says, ' a short, fat part is more rewarding than a long, thin one.' She quotes, as an example, the part of the Old Lady in Henry VIII , which she played at the Old Vic. ' It was like the sensation of jumping over a blue puddle on a bright windy day.'
