The Verb

on BBC Radio 3

Ian McMillan presents the language cabaret from the Birmingham Book Festival where he is joined by Jim Crace, who reads from his novel in progress, Genesis. Tonight's edition also features a new commission - a short drama by the Birmingham-based playwright Naylah Ahmed. Ian McMillan meets Birmingham's own poet laureate, reads the text of the city itself and, because the programme is coming from the Inspiration Room at the Orange Studio, he and his guests explore the language of corporate aspiration.
