Where are the Giants ?
' British Sportsmen Join Up'
Captain W. R. G. Smith
How can the sportsman help in the war? It has been quickly realised that co-operation between various branches of sport and the Army is extremely desirable, and that in physical training in particular the sportsman can give enormous help to the soldier. The organisation behind the idea is proceeding apace, and all over the country prominent cricketers, boxers, golfers, footballers, tennis-players, and others are playing their part in National Service.
Captain W. R. G. Smith is a well-known journalist, and has given a great many broadcasts on sporting topics. He has always been closely interested in sport, and he is coming to the microphone this evening to give some idea of what is going on between the Army camps and the sports organisations, and to describe what various famous sporting personalities are doing, and what they have joined.
