Maria Marten is perhaps the most famous of all the Victorian melodramas which filled the popular theatres throughout the country during the latter half of the last century. In this production - recorded at the Town and Country Festival at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire earlier today, under conditions very similar to those known to the original barn-storming companies - we present.
