on BBC Home Service Basic

View in Radio Times

Dramatic feature by P. H. Burton , produced by T. Rowland Hughes
In April of this year there limped into a British port a strange ship, called in this programme the S.S. ' Pendragon '. For two and a half years she had lain rotting in the hot sun of Casablanca, and had become almost completely unseaworthy. But Captain Christensen, a Dane, brought her home with a motley crew. many of whom had never been to sea before. The ship became a travelling Babel, for there were twelve nationalities aboard. This programme is based on the story of Captain Christensen from the time when he set out from England in April 1940, until he returned three years later.
