Wolfgang Holzmair adopts the role of the unhappy wayfarer in Mahler's early song cycle. The product of a doomed love-affair between the composer and a young singer, it draws on a collection of folk poetry that was central to Mahler's output, Des Knaben Wunderhorn.
Presented by Sarah Walker.
