It is the Spring of 1900 and young Albert (
Michael Legge ) has postponed his legal studies to fight in South Africa against the Boers as a volunteer with the Imperial Irish Yeomanry. His letters home to his sweetheart in Belfast describe his growing disillusionment with the campaign. Historical background is provided by Professor Ian Beckett and Dr Jacqueline Beaumont.
