The Topsoll of Imberley by Peter Terson

Jenny Beston, a student teacher, has been sent to Imberley in Hampshire to make a detailed survey of the village. As well as being an academic exercise, her tutor, Ruby Filmore, hopes it will make her less self-centred and help her to prepare for her teaching career.
