Walter Attard was an accountant - very sound but in no way startling. He lived a quiet life and when he retires he regrets the fact that he never took any risks, either in business or in his private life, and that he's ended up with nothing. He's definitely an unlikely hero for a thriller, but, at the age of 60, life starts to be exciting for Walter.
