Peter Skellern concludes his series on the great piano entertainers.
The world's greatest piano showman was born Waldziu Valentino in Milwaukee in 1919. He made his professional debut aged nine with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra but became the known and adored Liberace during the war, imbibing classical, cocktail, jazz and boogie woogie with his inimitable mastery of trills and arpeggios, upstaged only by his use of mink, sequin, gold lame and candelabra.
