East Side burlesque in general, and Minsky's Burlesque in particular, are under constant fire from the Society for the Suppression of Vice and from the cops.
So when stage-struck Rachel Schpitendavel , running away from her Amish home in Pennsylvania, arrives at Minsky's announcing that she dances scenes from the Bible, the management sees a chance to prove that their show is just good wholesome entertainment - and that's how striptease was born!
