When the temporal areas of the brain are stimulated electrically a conscious patient may ' dream dreams ' and ' see visions.* Injury or disease in these areas may call up hallucinations or bring a strange conviction that all that is now happening has happened before. Changes in personality may also occur, and there is evidence that aggressive and violent behaviour is often linked with abnormal brain rhythms in these areas.
