on BBC One London

3/3. Mystery of the Forgotten Plague. In the 1920s an incurable disease that turned ordinary people into living statues caused global panic. Yet ten years after it first appeared, encephalitis lethargica suddenly vanished, leaving victims paralysed and scientists baffled as to its origins. Recently, new cases of the disease - made infamous in the 1990 film Awakenings - have been reported. Are we seeing the start of a new pandemic?
