PIANOFORTE MUSIC OF MOZART
Played by EDWARD ISAACS
Sonata in G (K.283)
1. Allegro ; 2. Andante ; 3. Presto
(From North National)
EDWARD ISAACS has been broadcasting for ten years. Ho was one of the first artists to do so from Trafford Park in 1922, and since that day he has been heard by listeners on numberless occasions, particularly in the Foundations of Music series. Mr. Isaacs' repertory is so extensive that it is difficult to say in what he excels, but in Mozart listeners have had proof not only that ho is completely at home, but that his Mozart playing is impeccable. He is a Manchester musician, and music in Manchester has owed a great deal to him ; at the same time, his studios abroad brought him into touch with a number of distinguished musicians, Busoni, Godowsky, Nikisch, Baekhaus, Joachim, Cortot, and others, with many of whom he formed close friendships. About a year ago long-threatened blindness completely overtook him, but it would seem that so tragic a handicap has affected his pianoforte playing only by adding strength and beauty to his interpretations.
