Appeal on behalf of the National Library for the Blind by Esmond Knight
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged and should be addressed to Esmond Knight, Esq., National Library for the Blind, [address removed]
The National Library for the Blind is a free Lending Library which provides books in embossed types, Braille and Moon, for its ten thousand blind readers, nearly all of whom live in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Books are circulated, mostly by post, from the library's headquarters in London and from its Northern Branch in Manchester to individual readers and libraries, schools, and institutions.
The National Library for the Blind stocks books in every class of literature and funds are urgently needed to enable it to maintain and improve its services: the branch building at Manchester, for instance, is in process of reconstruction at an estimated cost of £ 50,000, which is a heavy drain on resources.
