The Midland Bank is in the midst of change, and the Chairman Sir Kit McMahon believes his rescue plan has reached a critical stage. His twin-track approach means radical cost cutting and a drive to develop and sell new products to customers. If it fails a new takeover attempt seems inevitable. So is it make or break for Midland?
