Sydney 1944: as the tide of war turns in favour of the allies the city plays host to gamblers and American GIs, who congregate at the South Pacific Hotel. At the heart of the hotel is the beauty salon where three remarkable women work. In this time of social upheaval they each search and gamble in their own way to survive and, perhaps, find happiness.
