Third of four programmes Fugues Nos 17-25 played by RONALD STEVENSON (piano)
Antonin Reicha and Beethoven, exact contemporaries, were fellow members of the Court orchestra at Bonn. When the French Revolution routed the Court, Reicha lived first in Hamburg and then in Paris, where he became professor at the Conservatoire and the teacher of Berlioz, Liszt, Gounod, and César Franck. His 36 Fugues for piano were dedicated to Haydn.
