In 1909 Alexis Lopoukhin was exiled to Siberia for five years after a political trial which was a model of corruption, false evidence, and prearranged verdict. His wife, two daughters, and their Scottish governess elected to follow him voluntarily into exile. The younger of his two daughters, Mary, was fourteen-and-a-half years of age at the time. This programme is a dramatised account of some of Mary Ambrosetti 's experiences of exile in Siberia as a child during the years 1910-1912.
