An appeal on behalf of The Royal National Lifeboat
Institution by Coxswain Robert Cross
Since the outbreak of war the Royal National Lifeboat Institution has had the busiest time in its history. In seven months of war its lifeboats have rescued 1,868 lives ; more, in fact, than in the last four years of peace. In the same time the Institution has spent in rewards to its crews and launchers nearly £14,000.
Coxswain Cross has won the bronze medal of the Institution, its silver medal three times, and also its gold medal, the V.C. of the Lifeboat Service.
