A morality play by Bertolt Brecht
Translated from the German and adapted by Goronwy Rees with music by Paul Dessau with Peter Wilde , John Cazabon
John Boddington , Eva Stuart
Music played by Archie Camden (bassoon) James Blades (percussion)
Peter Gellhorn (piano)
Adaptation of English words to music by Hedli Anderson
Musical direction by Peter Gellhorn
Produced by John Gibson
Bertolt Brecht's story of a journey is almost an equation in inequality. A is rich, B and C are poor. Therefore in no circumstances can B + C = A..... Brecht's liking for interior monologue in ballad form is evident, and the final scene is a bullet at the heart of injustice, even if it demands acceptance of the German playwright's inexorable social philosophy.
