Calypso in Britain. In 1957 Britain saw the beginning of a calypso craze, led by Harry Belafonte. Cy Grant , who played a part in it himself, uses records by artists as diverse as Tommy Steele , Alma Cogan and Bernard Cribbins to illustrate British attempts at singing calypso.
