On 7 January 1960 the BBC's Third Programme launched its Thursday
Invitation Concerts. The original billing claims the programmes were built 'on the principle that equal importance should be given to past and present.'This inaugural concert, which married Mozart and Boulez, is repeated today with its original announcements.
