The Films of Alfred Hitchcock: Notorious

on BBC One London

A selection of feature films directed by the master of suspense
starring Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant
with Claude Rains, Louis Calhern

Alicia, a young American woman, becomes notorious when her German father is convicted of treason against the United States. To prove her loyalty, she goes on a secret mission for her country to Brazil, but complications follow when she falls in love with her fellow-agent.
Allegedly, when Hitchcock first considered Notorious in 1944 he made official enquiries to find out how uranium could be used with an atom bomb. He was told it was not feasible, and then scrutinised by FBI agents for two weeks.
