Pierre Boulle served with the Free French forces in Indo-China, was captured by the Japanese, escaped, and served with the British in India. He is the author of the novel, The Bridge Over the River Kwai. William Conrad, written in 1950, was his first novel. William Conrad has escaped from Nazi Germany and is putting his literary talent at the disposal of the British Government. But there are some who doubt whether in fact he is the patriot he appears to be.
