Huck and Jim built a hut on the raft which Jim was able to hide in when a skiff approached them. They were looking for a runaway slave. Huck told them his father was ill with small-pox in the hut. The men gave Huck some money and beat a hasty retreat. At night, the raft was run down by a paddle-steamer and sunk. Huck can t find Jim. Has he been drowned? 18: Meet the Grangerfords
