A Parade of Radio Personalities
The BBC Variety Orchestra conducted by Charles Shadwell
Compere, Bryan Michie
Here is a variety of Variety, altogether new and unexpected. Who, for instance, would dream of finding the BBC's own-gardener in a Variety programme? Yet here he is: C. H. Middleton will have a chat for the first time with Bryan Michie in St. George's Hall and on the air.
It is an intimate, personal programme. Those who have made their names through radio, whether yesterday or when broadcasting was young, will come to the microphone and say something about themselves. Michie wants to introduce a very few of the many people who have become famous through broadcasting.
For twenty-four hours, reply-paid telegrams searched for Gypsy Petulengro, and at last found him. Henry Hall at the piano is another certainty, as is Jeanne de Casalis , who created Mrs. Feather; then Hughie Greene will appear without his gang. There will be one or more famous radio comedians, and a radio personality in Charles Shadwell. For the rest, let it be a surprise as to who will broadcast in ' Radio Review '.
