' What you are about to see is a true story.' Dr Samuel Mudd unknowingly helped the injured assassin of President Lincoln - an actor named John Wilkes Booth. In the frantic aftermath to the murder Mudd was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment on Shark's Island - a notorious penitentiary run by the authority. His incredible ordeal and the attempt by his lawyer and wife to save him from a living death form the story of this made-for-television feature.
