Bill Elliot was in a very bad temper on his return from Germany and was rude to Betty Fox and to Bob Dale. Mrs. Elliot feels he is in a bad state both physically and mentally and talks to Dr. Dale, who agrees with her that he must be persuaded to see his grandson. Effie and Arnold have now heard about a girl who is having an illegitimate baby and they are considering adopting the child. Dr. and Mrs. Dale have heard that they can move into the Marriners' house on June 27.
