Music Restored

on BBC Radio 3

Chris de Souza introduces the second of four concerts recorded last month at the Royal Academy of Music in London, in which The Musical Offering, Bach's great contrapuntal present to Frederick the Great, is put in context. This week, the Palladian Ensemble are joined by harpsichordist Laurence Cummings in music reflecting Bach's skill as a contrapuntal gamester. The programme includes canons from The Musical Offering and from the Goldberg Variations.
