BBC Scottish Orchestra

on General Forces Programme

View in Radio Times

Conductor, Guy Warrack
This tone poem, completed in 1935, was first broadcast by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in June, 1939. The work derives its title from a rugged spot on the Cornish coast. Although the music does not illustrate any definite programme, the composer has endeavoured to reflect in terms of music some of the grimness and grandeur of a scene in which the surge of the Atlantic is predominant.
