on BBC Radio 3

(1875-1937). 1: Fairy Tales. In 1921
Ravel bought his first and only house, the aptly named Le BelvedSre in Montfort
I'Amaury with its spectacular view of the Rambouillet forest. The house is full of the quirky objects he collected. This week Donald Macleod visits Le Belvedere in search of the parallels between Ravel's private obsessions and his musical world. He begins with a look at Ravel's fascination with childhood and fairytales.
