1: EarlyLife. Born in Paris between 1634 and 1650 Charpentier studied in Italy before returningto take up a position as singer and music masterto the Duchesse de Guise. His chance came when Moliere asked Charpentierto write the music for his comedy Le Malade Imaginaire. Presented by Donald Macleod.
