Desmond Morris and Sarah Kennedy set off by barge to explore the animal life of Birmingham, the city that boasts more miles of canal than Venice. En route they meet cat fanciers, dog lovers and the tiny horses, once thought to be extinct. which are now flourishing in Britain as refugees from the Ayatollah's Iran.
For Sarah there's a special lesson to overcome her fear of birds. Her teacher is a wise owl.
