Gilbert goes with Sullivan like bacon with eggs, yet here is not an opera but a play .by the famous librettist - an entertainment sans Sullivan in fact.
First performed at London's Haymarket Theatre in 1877, Engaged is about money and the sort of eligible young ladies and gentlemen who fell in love with, and schemed to marry the stuff, back in the passionate days of hansom cabs.
