Great Mysteries: The Prophecies of Nostradamus

on BBC One London

The last of three programmes

Michael Nostradamus - the prophet who foretold the death of Kennedy, the rise of Hitler, even the fall of the Shah of Iran... or so his interpreters would have us believe. For Nostradamus has always relied on his interpreters to make his obscure verses fit the fears and obsessions of succeeding generations.
This week Henry Lincoln looks behind the smokescreen of interpretation at the real Michael Nostradamus, who in the 16th century lived in the South of France, trained as a doctor at the University of Montpellier and whose prophecies were immediate best-sellers in his own lifetime.
