Baron Richard Austen Butler of Saffron Walden, or 'Rab' as he is affectionately known throughout the country, held his seat as Conservative Member for Saffron Walden from 1929 until he became Master of Trinity College, Cambridge in 1965. In his distinguished career this remarkable man has been, among other things, Home Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Privy Seal, and Leader of the House of Commons. Tonight he will talk to Cliff Michelmore about his life in and out of politics.
