* Every step, you could feel the sweat start, but before it trickled, the fire's heat wiped it off. Close to the flames, three men jetted water from tanks on the trucks; three men worked the hand-pumps. Periodically, the trucks raced away to a ground tank, ten miles away, to get refills.
