My subject is War, and the pity of War.
The Poetry is in the pity.
All a poet can do is to warn.
Benjamin Britten intersperses the Latin texts from the Mass of the Dead. and the ritual following it. with nine of Wilfred Owen's war poems. The result is the War Requiem.
