Robert Mitchum , George Kennedy Flagg is the ageing marshal of Progress, a peaceful, thriving community with street lighting and automobiles. When he hears his old enemy, train robber Big John McKay, is in the area, he proceeds to gather a posse. But mayor Wilker retires him and forbids the action. Undeterred, the rugged, stubborn Flagg sets out after McKay on his own....
