Maths Help

on BBC One London

A series of 12 programmes aimed at giving direct help to all those having difficulty with O-level maths.
4: Symbols
Many people are frightened just by the look of mathematics. The unfamiliarity of the language of mathematics is daunting. Yet to someone who can't read, the appearance of the daily newspaper must be equally daunting.
Once you have learned to read the symbols of mathematics then you begin to appreciate the power that they give you in the solution of problems. This programme looks at a guessing game and a sequence to bring out the simplification and power that symbols give.
