Michael Berkeley 's guest is Edward Said , professor of English and comparative literature at Columbia University, and a prolific writer on a wide range of subjects, including literature, music, cultural politics and Middle Eastern issues. His musical choices range from keyboard music by Bach, Chopin and Messiaen, to Bruckner's Symphony No 8, and operatic excerpts by Berlioz and Berg.
