The ten-part story of Britain's royal builders and collectors. Told by Huw Wheldon
7: Victoria and Albert sir Huw WHELDON describes the family life of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Osborne House, and the background to their official duties at Buckingham Palace, which remains the centre for state ceremonial. Prince Albert's capacities for organisation and design were shown to the full during the rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster and the Great Exhibition of 1851. The Queen's grief at his death is reflected in the magnificent Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore.
