An occasional series of programmes on English clergymen The Rev. Richard Waldo Sibthorp (1792-1879) had a unique life in which idealism and comedy were strangely blended. He changed his religion six-possibly seven-times; he died as a Roman Catholic, but reading the Book of Common Prayer: and owing to a not unnatural misunderstanding he was buried with the full rites of the Church of England, an Anglican bishop presiding over the ceremony.
