Are Mothers Necessary?

on BBC Radio 4 FM

A series of six programmes that examines the psychological development of the child during the first year of life. Presented by Dr Martin Bax 6: The Commitment at Birth
In his last programme he looks at the external factors that influence the development of emotional bonds between child and caretaker. Do, for example, current maternity practices have undesirable, even lonig-term effects on baby and mother.
Dr Bax asks if the psychological discoveries of the past decade allow more parents to provide their children with the emotional security needed for successful development.
